Junior Science Club

The Junior Science Club meets once a month usually on a Tuesday at 3.40pm. A group of enthusiastic young scientists gets together with some Science staff and some helpful senior pupils, for one hour to carry out a range of different experiments.

Popular themes include ‘Forensic Science’ and ‘Special Effects’ and messy experiments, such as the volcanic eruption, foam fire extinguisher, alien blood and fire writing, which are firm favourites. Less ‘explosive’ practical activities such as culturing bacteria, growing crystal gardens, investigating magnetism, microscopy with pond micro-beasts and bubble-blowing are also thoroughly enjoyed by all.
In addition to our normal meetings, we occasionally invite guest scientists to visit us from time to time. The Junior Science Club, along with its associated activities, is going from strength to strength.
