Syllabus: CCEA English and Literature
All pupils in years 11 and 12 are taught both subjects. Classes are not streamed. Pupils are encouraged to actively participate in a wide range of activities in the classroom and enjoy opportunities to demonstrate their independence and individuality though creative writing, individual presentations, group discussion and role play. The Literature GCSE allows the study and exploration of a wide range of texts including Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘To Kill A Mocking Bird’ by Harper Lee and ‘Animal Farm ‘ by George Orwell. An anthology of Poetry is also taught for the examination.
