Old Scholar Jake Lewis, who left Friends’ in 2016, was the guest of honour, and he spoke about his journey through a degree in Business Information Technology at Queen’s to his appointment as Associate at Goldman Sachs in London. He talked to pupils about the need to overcome adversity and to use it as a tool for learning, recalling how he had first learned this lesson following a set-back with his Young Enterprise company during his time in the Sixth Form.

The Principal, Stephen Moore, congratulated pupils on their success, saying that they had done exceptionally well at AS level and had given themselves a solid foundation for their A-levels in 2024. He said that 144 pupils had sat AS exams, with 58% of entries at grade A, which was up from 40% in 2019, the last year exams were taken before the pandemic. He added that 94% of all entries had been at grades A-C and that 58 pupils had achieved 3 or more As, with a remarkable 34 awarded

The Principal also paid tribute to pupils for the contribution they made to many other areas of school life as mentors to younger pupils, in team sports and in music, and in other clubs and societies. He said that, as their thoughts turned to life beyond school, he was confident that they would go on to do very well and expressed the hope that they would carry with them the values that are central to life at Friends’.
