Thirty Year 8 and 9 pupils attended the One Book Two Counties project at the Down Royal racecourse for the launch of Terence Blacker’s new book, Racing Manhattan.
In response to recent media coverage of the charity Dementia NI, Miss Macartney, from the English department at Friends’ School Lisburn, shared a creative writing piece titled ‘Unforgettable’ from Year 12 student, Anna Finlay. With a strong focus on the setting of Portnoo, the story explores the significance of memory and place.

Willy Wonka wows and woos in vintage 1950s style at fun, slick, Friends’ School production of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. Golden tickets dangled from FSL trees as the jazzy vivacity of the Wonka Band (directed by Mrs Niamh Blakeman) thrilled the audience on two glorious autumnal evenings.
