 Friends’ Pupil set for Strasbourg
Kerry Logan, a Year 14 pupil from Friends’ School has won Rotary Ireland’s prestigious Youth Leadership Development Competition. The competition was open to young people aged 15 and above and involved the completion of an application form followed by an interview in school. The interview involved an opportunity to discuss her own leadership skills and experience as well as to answer questions about Rotary and the European Union.

Kerry is a Senior Prefect in school and a house music coordinator. In addition to these roles she is active in the school choir, orchestra and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme while outside school she is engaged in voluntary work and speech and drama.

After successfully winning the round in school Kerry moved on to the club final in the Island Centre. This round involved a further interview for young people from the Lisburn area. The final round of interviews was held in Monaghan which involved successful pupils from schools across the north of Ireland.

The prize for her success is participation in a week long Leadership Development Programme which will include a day at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Kerry is the third pupil from Friends’ to have won this award in recent years with Ciar McAndrew and Alexander Redpath having been successful participants in recent years.
