Friends’ Young Enterprise Success at Graduation Day
On Monday 22nd March 2010, five pupils from Friends’ School Lisburn Young Enterprise Company, F.A.M.E. (Friends’ Association of Magnificent Enterprise) attended a Graduation Day for the South East Region at the La Mon Hotel along with the Belfast and Castlereagh Region. The day comprised of a number of speeches from last years winners and local business owners. A variety of questions were asked to a number of companies and our company had the opportunity to answer a question about the problems we had to face throughout the year and how we overcame them.
Previous to the graduation F.A.M.E. had to go through a demanding interview and presentation to a panel of judges from local industry. F.A.M.E. was successful within the South Eastern region as we went on to win two awards, the first for ‘Best Social Enterprise’ which was sponsored by the co-operative and a second award for ‘Overall Runner-Up Company’. Throughout the year F.A.M.E. have came up with two products, the first being a Baby Brochure, ‘A Toddle through Lisburn’ which is a brochure that is being produced for mothers and toddlers within Lisburn for activities and events coming up. The second product is ‘F.A.M.E. Skins’ which are a cover for the back of an iPod. F.A.M.E. have had a successful year. The graduation showed us that although we had challenges throughout the year, to always persevere and challenges can be overcome.
