Aims

The English Department aims to encourage students to:

• Demonstrate skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in order to communicate confidently, precisely and appropriately.
• Express themselves creatively and imaginatively.
• Explore a variety of texts in order to become more aware of values, attitudes and beliefs and how these affect identity and culture.
• Become critical readers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama
• Become aware of the power of effective communication
