Friends Fields of Life

For the past few years in Friends’ it has become a tradition for year 12 pupils to take on the responsibility of sponsoring four Ugandan children through the charity Fields of Life. A committee is elected and a large number of students in the year sign up to give £1 every month to help the children.

We receive regular updates from the children such as pictures and thank-you letters which are not only a great encouragement to the committee but have also proven to be very useful in assemblies in helping to demonstrate to pupils just what an excellent cause this charity is.

The committee also holds various events throughout the year to help boost funds, which in the past have included; a football tournament, bun sales, guess the skittles in the jar and a drinks stall at sports day. The proceeds of these events have been used to send things like shoe boxes filled with presents to the children at Christmas. All of these events have proven very successful with the whole student population.
