Key Stage 3

Home Economics is taught to all pupils throughout Key Stage 3. It is a contributory strand of Learning for Life and Work and the pupils learn about healthy eating, home and family life and consumer issues.

The pupils are offered the opportunity to enter Young Cook of the Year competition run by The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland. The objective of the competition is to encourage pupils to combine an understanding of good nutrition and value for money with creative flair and ability to produce tasty and attractive food. In doing this, pupils are encouraged to source and use locally produced food.
