Friends' School Lisburn Economics Department Welcomes Recent Speakers

Gillian Anderson, the Bank of England's Deputy Agent in Northern Ireland, spoke to Year 14 Economics pupils on 24th February.  Gillian delivered a one hour ‘Economics in Practice’ presentation on the role of the Bank as well as a brief resume of her career and route into / through the Bank.

Conor Lambe studied Economics from GCSE Level and is now Chief Economist & Strategy Lead at Danske Bank UK. Conor came into our school and spoke to the Lower Sixth (Year 13) Economic students about his journey through school and university, reflecting on the challenges he faced and how he overcame them. Most importantly, he came to share his passion and drive for the subject of Economics, which was not only inspirational but also extremely motivating, especially for a group of individuals who would be making a critical decision about their future careers in the coming year regarding what they want to do in university. Conor is a professional economist and financial services strategist who has worked in both consulting and banking. He has experience in economic forecasting, macroeconomic data analysis and scenario design & development.  Conor's experience and success in banking and the economy serve as an example for students of someone who was not unlike them and achieved great success.  Conor's talk provided a lot of clarity for people who are thinking about studying Economics.
