Bumper Week for FSL Hockey

Friends’ School girl’s hockey had a very busy, yet very successful week as the season began to come to a close. (The 2BXI captained by Ella Hickland, winners of The Gibson Cup)

The week of Cup Finals started on Monday with the 2nd XI reaching the final of the McDowell Cup against Rainey. The girls produced an excellent performance winning the game 2-1 with Thea Wilson and Erin Aiken the scorers.

Tuesday brought the Gibson Cup final were the 2BXI would play Ballyclare High School in another exciting and competitive cup Final. FSL were once again victorious, winning the game 2-0 with Imogen Erskine and Sarah Sanford with the goals. As a well thought out banner made by the travelling supporters suggested – ‘It is meant 2B’!

Finally, throughout the week all of the FSL Girls teams played Wallace High School in the annual Helen Martin Trophy. Well done to all the girls from Wallace and Friends’ who took part in a closely contested competition as matches were played in great spirit in very cold conditions. The final points score was FSL 15 WHS 12 completing a fantastic end to the season for the Friends’ School Hockey Girls squads.
