Health & Social Care

CCEA Health and Social Care offers a vibrant exploration of health and wellbeing.

AS units include coursework on promoting quality care and effective communication in care settings, while A2 units focus on body systems and physiological disorders and supporting individuals with specific needs. Students also complete a placement in a care setting in Year 13, gaining practical experience and insights. This engaging course blends theory with real-world application, preparing students for impactful careers in healthcare and community support.

Curriculum

At A Level, students follow the CCEA Single Award Health and Social Care curriculum. At AS Level, pupils complete coursework units 1 and 2, and an exam unit 3. At A2 Level, they tackle coursework units 2 and 5, alongside a pre-release exam for unit 3.

This engaging curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, preparing students for rewarding careers in healthcare and community support.

As part of the AS course, students complete a placement in a health and social care setting from September to December.

This experience is necessary, as their observations will be essential for writing the two coursework units in Year 13. Examples include day nurseries, primary school nurseries, special needs schools, residential care homes, sheltered accommodation, nursing homes, and hospitals.
