Biology is a key science subject within the curriculum. It can be studied alone or in combination with other sciences. It is primarily concerned with the study of all aspects of living organisms and the environment. GCSE and A level courses also deal with developments in aspects of gene technology and the subsequent ethical issues associated with developing technology. Students learn how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how science contributes to the success of the economy and society.
The subject is delivered by 3 full time members of staff and 2 job-share staff members. Practical activities are supported by a technician. The labs are well-equipped, including recently installed ‘Clevertouch’ boards.
